Zentangle Tile #59

Good morning friends

So I'm late for the Diva's Weekly Challenge #264: "String Theory: String into Spring".  I even had my tile finished, but we were on the road and it was packed so I couldn't get a photo. I've been unpacking and putting things back into my craft room and realized I hadn't yet posted my tile.

The tile also works for the Square One Purely Zentangle FaceBook group, where the focus is SNAIL.

So here you go ... I used Laura Harms suggested string, and just let loose and let it happen.

Zentangle Tile #20

Good morning friends

Today I have another tile where I used initials as the string. This is for my hubby, with the initials GW.  I really enjoyed doing the strings this way, and if I'm ever stumped for a string idea I know I can always turn to initials of family and friends.

Tangles used:
Cootie
Verve
Ricks Paradox
Heartrope
Pea Fea
Baton
Bales

Since I wasn't keeping track early on, I don't know the name of the fan tangle on the curved portion of the string nor the two tangles in the centre of the tile.

Zentangle Tile #19

Good morning friends

My Zentangle Tile #19 is the third in my 'Use Initials as a String' series. This one is for our son, with the initials SEW.

Tangles used:
Verve,
Flux
Tipple
Ricks Paradox
Echoism
Twile (Stoic)

When I started out in Zentangle, I didn't keep track of the tangles used. So I have no idea what the half ovals are in the upper left corner. The closest I can come is that they look like random Mumsy petals. Also, it looks like River Rock at the centre right, but that's not the correct name. If I come across the proper tangle names, I'll update this post.

It's A String Thing #140

Good morning friends

Today's share is my tile #58, done for Adele Bruno's It's A String Thing #140. I did use the string, but didn't fill every section with a different tangle and left one area with no tangles at all. I'm trying to work on using the string as a suggestion rather than areas that must each be filled.

Copada was a new tangle for me - and I enjoyed it. I can see lots of variations can be worked and I'm sure looking forward to see what everyone comes up with for the challenge.

Carousel Horse Template

Good morning friends

I haven't tangled in a template for awhile. Doing the Tangle A Day Calendar and participating in challenges is keeping me busy enough as I'm also keeping up with my card-making. This is one of (the amazing) Ben Kwok's templates from Oration Creation on Facebook. I tangled it awhile ago but haven't shared it yet.

I didn't keep track of the tangles used on any of my templates, and honestly - I don't think I will.

Zentangle Tiles #55 & 56

Good morning friends

Here are my tiles for Adele Bruno's It's a String Thing Challenge #139. The string is cool, and the challenge tangles are: B-Twixt, Tagh, and Chillon.  All three were new to me. I hadn't really tried Chillon as it seemed so much like Bales ... but I can see that it's going to be fun!

B-Twixt was also new - and I enjoyed it. I love that a simple triangle can turn out so dramatic with a few pen strokes. Then there is Tagh. I didn't like the test tangle in my notebook and wasn't sure I could get it to work well enough for the challenge. And I knew I didn't want to add it into the big loop. So I added single petals into Chillon and ended up quite liking it! So then I added three petals to the larger, background chill on and liked that too. When I started shading, the big loop reminded me of a pineapple so that is how I shaded it and rotated the tile.

The string was still calling to me and I wanted to try Tagh the way it's supposed to go. I think the tile would have been better had I done something different with B-Twixt or left it off all together. But I finally had a Tagh I was happy with!

Zentangle Tile #57

Good morning friends

Today's share is for the Weekly Zentangle Tangle Video challenge on Facebook. Jane Dickinson challenged us to use 'Inapod' as the tangle. YES! I haven't used it often, but I really like it.

I will post my tiles for IAST #139 tomorrow. I did two because while I liked the string, I didn't enjoy the chosen tangles together. Both tiles were a struggle for me. This one just flowed! It was effortless and 'zen'.  Afterglow is a new tangle for me so I just had to tuck it in.

Tangles used:
Inapod
Afterglow
Meringue
Tipple

Zentantle Tile #53

Good morning friends

Today's share is my tile #53 for Eni Oken's Shading Zentangle challenge on FaceBook, 'SLITS'.

Once I got working on the bottom left, I realized that the top of the slit should have been in pencil and not pen, but I did enjoy this as a learning experience. I've never done a slit before.

Here is the photo before shading. Sorry for the bad light, I took the photo outside in the shade.

It's A String Thing #138

Good morning friends

In an earlier challenge, Adele asked us to use Warped Eggs but I just couldn't get it to work for me.  This week she posted a different step-out that proved to be much easier. The tangle worked out perfectly the first time I added it to my note book. Now I'm looking forward to adding to my Tangle A Day Calendar or a tile in the near future.

Today's share is the tile I did for 'It's A String Thing #138 challenge'. This week we were to use Adele Bruno's new tangle 'Citrus".

I filled the sections of Citrus with Hollibaugh, and I'm happy with how the tile turned out. I'll use Citrus again for sure.

Citrus
Hollibaugh
Barberpole
3 Loops 6
Fescue

Zentangle Tile #13

Good morning friends

Here is my Zentangle Tile #313. I was trying out a bunch of new-to-me tangles, but when I was finished and looked at the tile I wasn't that impressed. :-) Now I realize it's because there is no real flow but that's OK. There are no mistakes in Zentangle, right?
