Zentangle Tile #27

Good morning friends

The Tangle PEA NUCKLE was the challenge tangle at Square One Purely Zentangle on FaceBook. I worked and worked but I did NOT enjoy it. I used it on this tile so I could participate in the challenge but likely won't attempt it again.

One of the ladies on the FB page (Mary Beth S) suggested to draw the initial "S" line for Pea Nuckle backwards and that helped me get this far. I like the rest of the tangles on my tile though - and when I look at it now, months later - it looks better than I thought it did the day I completed it.

Tangle a Day Calendar 2016, January 31st

Good morning friends

Today I'm sharing the last January page in my Tangle A Day Calendar Calendar by Carol Ohl. She provides artwork (on the right of the page) for you to incorporate into your own. Or not - your choice. I have a long way to go before my work looks anything like hers, but I did at least join the two on this one.

Baby steps.

Zentangle Tile #69

Good morning friends

When Jane Dickinson posted the tangle focus for this week's Weekly Zentangle Tangle Video was AURAKNOT I was immediately inspired. I'm still in a Pokeroot mood, so had to add that tangle as well.

Tangle a Day Calendar 2016, February 1st, 2nd & 3rd

Good morning friends

Today's share is another page in my Tangle A Day Calendar by Carol Ohl. While I'm not completely up tp date on the calendar, I am doing my May pages ... I'm just behind getting the pages photographed and posted!

I was still playing with Helen Williams' 'A String Thing' and trying to get Meringue to have more flow.

Zentangle Tile #25

Good morning friends

Today's share is my Zentangle Tile #25.

I had so much fun drawing Auraknot - what a lovely tangle. This tile was done around Christmas, to celebrate the holidays. Ha - can you tell?

While Zentangle is all about being non representational, Auraknot is a star and there is no getting around that.

Zentangle Tile #68

Hello friends

Yes, it's my second post today, but I wanted to get this tile done and in for the challenges. :-)

My Zentangle tile #68  actually works for three different challenges! The Weekly Zentangle Tangle Video on Facebook with the focus tangle CHARD, the Square One: Purely Zentangle Facebook group with the focus tangle Fugu, and the Diva's Weekly Challenge #268 to use more black than usual. Wow!

Fugu is a new to me tangle, but I can see all kinds of fun ways to use it. The talented tangles on the FB groups are really putting it through it's paces too and it's all very inspiring. Chard is another tangle that really lends itself to shading options, so fun. Pokeroot has been appearing in my tiles and my Tangle A Day Calendar lately. I'm trying to become more familiar with this tangle. Here, I've used it larger than ever before.

Good morning friends

Today's share is my Zentangle tile #64. I just wanted to play with Tripoli a bit ... going to have to learn to draw larger though. I quite like Tripoli and look forward to playing with it again. Huggins is always cool to do and Tagh snuck in again.

Zentangle Tile #63

Good morning friends

Today's share is my Zentangle Tile #63. Haha, it's full of oopses - opportunities. While I love the look of Paisley Boa, it is a struggle every time. Here again it didn't work out for me so I just made it my own.

Revolution and Trivolution are both new to me and I can tell they are going to get a lot of use! Barullo is another one that I enjoy but here I ended up connecting one wrong line and just had to go with it.

Still, I'm happy with how the tile turned out.

Diva Challenge #276

Good morning friends

I actually had a chance to play along with a challenge this week - the Diva's Weekly Challenge #276: "DuoTangle - Poke Root vs.  Drupe".

While I'm sure other's will have the same idea to use Poke Root as the 'arms' of Drupe, this is exactly what I pictured when I saw the two challenge tangles listed. Drupe is always fun and I think I'm beginning to enjoy Poke Root too!

Here is my Zentangle tile #66:

Our first sleepover with our Granddaughter Olivia went well and we had lots of fun. My heart is happy.

Zentangle Tile #62

Hello friends

While Olivia was in Edmonton for testing last week, we looked after her brothers aged two and three. It was B*U*S*Y!  One afternoon I suggested we sit and colour and I thought I'd have another go at Quib. Ha! Trying to draw on a tile with two wiggly boys bumping it wasn't exactly 'zen'.

I may try another version of this another time - it started out the way I visioned it in my head but after about 30 seconds there was a kick on the table and the boys needed to switch out who was using the markers and who had the crayons. Plus, little Zachary kept saying 'Mama' then showing me his picture. So sweet.

I finished the tile off this weekend, deciding to leave it minimal. It will bring back memories of our Grandson's every time I see it.

Zentangle Tile 23

Hello friends

I'm looking forward to today. Our Granddaughter Olivia is coming for her first sleep-over! Her 5th birthday is coming up so we will give her her gifts and get to spend some quality time with just her. She is very excited about 'Girl Time', ha ha. Sorry Grampa.

I'm also nervous. Really nervous. If anything goes wrong with her medicine pump**, we have 30 minutes to get a new one in and functioning or her lungs collapse. No pressure. But I have the 24 hour hot-line number, and we have to assume it is all going to go well.

**Olivia has advanced Pulmonary Hypertension, a progressive terminal disease.

I had fun with a couple of favourite tangles on my tile share today. Paradox gives me goosebumps every single time, it's so cool. And Featherfall? What's not to love!

Zentangle Tile #65

Hello friends

I called my kids last month, and said "There is a Zentangle Book I would like for Mother's Day, and if you all chip in that could be my gift from you three". They were thrilled. I was thrilled. I ordered it.

It came.

I didn't open it.

I waited until yesterday when we had everyone here for Mother's Day. As soon as they left I had a look at the beautiful Zentangle Primer Volume 1 ... what a treasure! Then I got too inspired to sit and continue to look at it but decided I wanted to create a tile!

The tangle focus on the 'Square One: Purely Zentangle Facebook group' this week is Batumber. A new tangle for me and I think it's going to be lots of fun. I embellished mine with aura's and a squiggle line that I use quite often.

I really enjoyed working on the tile, and hope to get some more time with the Zentangle Primer book later today. Perfect gift kids - thanks!!

Zentangle Tile 22

Hello friends

It was a CRAZY busy week. We looked after two of our Grandsons aged three and two while their sister and parents went to Edmonton for Olivia's testing. A handful for anybody who isn't used to little ones, but I was in a lot of pain from my Rheumatoid Arthritis and unable to sleep because of it. So being tired and in so much pain really took a lot out of me. We were busy every single second so there was no downtime to any tangling, even though it would have done me good.

When the boys were finally in bed each night and I painfully climbed the stairs - I just crashed on the couch until it was time to go back down. I like to sleep down with them, since they are so young. The good news is that Olivia's numbers came back quite good and the cardiologist and Pulmonary Hypertension expert told them to 'keep on doing what they've been doing'. Considering PH is a degenerative, terminal disease - we were thrilled with these latest results.

Today's share is my Zentangle Tile #22 and one I'm quite happy with.

Zentangle tile #60

Good morning friends

Tagh snuck into my tile ... funny how you learn a tangle and it's not really your thing. You struggle with it. You use it for the challenge and think to yourself you probably won't draw that again. Then ... poof - you are drawing it.

I credit all the talented people who submitted tiles to Adele Bruno's It's A String Thing Challenge #139 for inspiring me to give it another go.

Zentangle 21, an ATC

Good morning friends

When I was ordering my first real Zentangle tiles from Zentangle.com, of course I had to poke around their site and see what else was offered. Having been a long time fan of ATC's I also ordered a package. They are made from the same beautiful paper as the official Zentangle tiles, which is pure pleasure to work on.

This is my first Zentangled ATC (Artist Trading Card)...

It's A String Thing #142

Good morning friends

Today's share is the tile I made for Adele Bruno's 'It's A String Thing' challenge #142.

I had never done the tangle Quib before, but was looking forward to trying it. Then the week got away from me. I was going to see my Rheumatologist so grabbed my little pouch with a tile, pen and pencil. Good thing - I waited for well over an hour past my scheduled appointment time!

There was no table, and I was going from memory for Quib ... but between drawing on my (sore) knees or holding the tile in the air - I managed to get the tile done. I know I'll have another go at Quib when things slow down a little.

***Edited to add the tile with more shading. When I went to put the tile away, I was looking at it and wished I had done more shading. So ... I just went ahead and did it, and now I'm more satisfied and the tile is put away.
